AMSTERDAM, NY – On Sunday, a shooting took place at Veterans Park during the Summertime Love Basketball Classic.
Josefina Baret-Araujo, 36, of Amsterdam, is said to have shot a 38-year-old woman. The victim was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
According to the police, Baret-Araujo later surrendered, and the handgun used during the incident was secured.
While a specific motive is yet to be determined, it has been noted that the victim and the shooter were acquainted, indicating a prior conflict between them.
