Woman assaulted in Sheepshead Bay, suspect sought

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — A woman was assaulted inside a commercial establishment in Sheepshead Bay on Friday morning, and police are now searching for the suspect.

Authorities said the incident occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m. at 2009 Avenue U. A 53-year-old woman was involved in a verbal dispute with an unidentified female, which escalated when the suspect slapped the victim in the face and threw an unknown object at her. The attacker then fled on foot in an unknown direction.

Emergency responders transported the victim to Mount Sinai Brooklyn Hospital, where she was treated for facial pain and bruising. She was listed in stable condition.

Police described the suspect as a female, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, with a medium build, long black hair, and a medium complexion. She was last seen wearing a black jacket and gray sweatpants.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the NYPD as they continue to investigate the assault.
