HACKETTSTOWN, NJ – A Bronx woman has been charged for assault after slapping a Wawa employee in the face for being asked to wear a facemask while in the convenience store. According to Hackettstown police, “On 10/3/20 at approx. 12:24AM the Hackettstown police responded to Wawa (299 Mountain Ave) in reference to a disorderly female who assaulted an employee. Through an investigation, it was determined that 23yro Ashanty Niang of Bronx, NY was not wearing a face covering when she was inside the store. The employee asked the female to cover her face which she did with her jacket. Ashanty then was taking her jacket down which was uncovering her mouth. The employee asked Ashanty to leave the store and that’s when she slapped the employee in the face. Ashanty was charged with violating executive order, simple assault, and disorderly conduct. Ashanty has a pending court appearance.”
