Woman injured after falling through New York City apartment bathroom floor into basement

New York, NY- a New York City woman was rushed to the hospital after the bathroom floor of her apartment fell into the basement of her building on Sunday. The story was reported this weekend in the New York Post. According to the post article, the victim who lives in the first-floor apartment with her husband and child, fell through after a section of the concrete under her bathroom floor gave way in the six story building on 1204 Shakespeare Ave. The extent of her injuries is not known at this time.

An order to vacate the building was posted on the door after the incident by the New York City Building Department.

“The Department of Buildings has determined that conditions within this premises are immediately perilous to life,” the order states. “This premises has been vacated and re-entry is prohibited until such conditions have been eliminated to the satisfaction of the department.”
