NORTH RANDALL, OH — A Northeast Ohio woman is celebrating an incredible stroke of luck after winning $100,000 in the Ohio Lottery’s Pick 5 drawing—just one day after buying a new Lexus in cash.
The winner purchased two tickets with the same winning numbers, 3-7-0-5-0, in the October 20 midday drawing. Each ticket hit for $50,000, bringing her total prize to $100,000. She said the numbers hold personal significance, as they are part of her late cousin’s address, a number she has played consistently since his passing.
“I couldn’t believe my eyes,” she said. “I saw the number and I’m like, ‘oh my, I played that number.’” After realizing she’d played the same numbers on two tickets, she knew she’d won big.
Following state and federal tax withholdings of 28%, she will take home approximately $72,000, which she plans to use to pay herself back for the new car. The winning tickets were purchased at Mookie’s Beverage on Miles Road in North Randall.
