Woman sexually assaulted and robbed near Lenox Avenue in Harlem

MANHATTAN, N.Y. — A 28-year-old woman was sexually assaulted and robbed late Tuesday night in Harlem, according to the NYPD.

Police said the incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. near Lenox Avenue and West 129th Street. An unidentified male approached the victim, called out to her, and engaged in a brief conversation before grabbing her arm.

A struggle followed, during which the suspect sexually assaulted the victim and stole $20 in cash and her cellphone from her pocket.

The woman attempted to retrieve her belongings but was unsuccessful, police said. The suspect fled southbound on Lenox Avenue on foot.

Suspect description released

Authorities described the suspect as a male with a dark complexion. He was last seen wearing a light blue jacket, gray sweatpants, and multicolored sneakers.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.

The NYPD is asking anyone with information about the suspect or the incident to contact police.
