Woman shot and killed by gunman inside Philadelphia home

Philadelphia, PA – A young woman was killed early Tuesday morning after gunfire rang out along a North Philadelphia block, leaving investigators searching for answers.

Shortly after midnight, officers rushed to the 3100 block of West Montgomery Avenue following reports of shots fired and a person armed with a gun. Inside a property, they found 27-year-old Jasmine Johnson lying unresponsive with a gunshot wound to her back.

Medics pronounced Johnson dead at 12:35 a.m. as police secured the area and combed the street for evidence. Investigators marked multiple shell casings scattered along the roadway outside the home.

No arrests have been made, and detectives with the Homicide Unit are leading the investigation. Authorities have not identified a motive in the case.
