Woman shot in Philadelphia street broad daylight attack

Philadelphia, PA – A 51-year-old woman was wounded in a shooting Tuesday afternoon in North Philadelphia, police said.

The gunfire broke out around 2:05 p.m. on the 1700 block of Mount Vernon Street. The victim was struck once in the buttocks and rushed by officers to Jefferson-CC Hospital, where she is listed in stable condition.

An adult female suspect was taken into custody shortly after the shooting, and investigators recovered a firearm at the scene.

The motive behind the attack is not yet known, and the case has been assigned to the Shooting Investigation Group for further review.
