PITTSBURGH, PA – Early Thursday morning, Pittsburgh Police Department officers were dispatched to an emergency call reporting a woman shot outside 1605 Fifth Avenue, located just a few blocks from the PPG Paints Arena.
Arriving shortly before 5:45 a.m., the officers discovered the woman with a gunshot wound to her chest.
She was subsequently transported to a local hospital and immediately taken into surgery, being listed in critical condition.
The scene near a Shell gas station was secured with police tape as officers worked. The Mobile Crime Unit gathered evidence at the site.
Detectives are now set to review all video footage available from the vicinity to assist with their investigation. The investigation continues.
