Woman Stabbed, Man Injured in Early Morning Attack in the Bronx

BRONX, N.Y. — A 38-year-old woman was fatally stabbed, and a 46-year-old man injured, in an early morning attack on Friday at an apartment building on Macombs Road in the Bronx, police said.

Officers responding to a 911 call of an assault in progress at 1479 Macombs Road at approximately 3:31 a.m. discovered the woman with multiple stab wounds to her chest and back. Emergency medical personnel transported her to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police said a second victim, a man stabbed once in the left leg, had already been taken to Saint Barnabas Hospital by private means. He is listed in stable condition.

A person of interest was taken into custody at the scene, though charges have not yet been announced as the investigation remains ongoing.

Authorities have withheld the identity of the deceased pending notification of her family.
