Woman Stabbed Multiple Times Dead In D.C., Suspect Arrested

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch has reported the arrest of a man in connection with a fatal stabbing incident in the Northwest area of the city.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at around 2:49 a.m. Officers from the Third District were dispatched to the 1200 block of 11th Street, Northwest, following reports of a domestic disturbance. Upon their arrival, they found a woman inside a residence with multiple stab wounds. Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation into this incident identified the nature of the offense as domestic. The victim has been named as 31-year-old Reyna Garcia-Lopez, a resident of Northwest, D.C.

In a significant development, on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, Alberto Valle-Carranza, 54, also from Northwest D.C., was apprehended in Michigan City, Indiana. Valle-Carranza was arrested under a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, charging him with Second Degree Murder while Armed. He is currently undergoing the extradition process to be returned to Washington, D.C., where he will face the charges brought against him.
