MANCHESTER-On Friday, July 27, 2018 at approximately 12:06pm, officers from the Manchester Township Police Department responded to Yorkshire Court in the Leisure Village West Adult Community to investigate the report of a multiple vehicle crash with a vehicle into a residence.
Upon arrival, officer’s located a blue, 1986, Toyota Camry with significant damage partially in the roadway on Yorkshire Court.
From the initial observation, it appeared as though the Camry had struck several parked cars, a residence, an electrical transformer, and a mailbox on Yorkshire Court.
The driver, identified as 71-year-old Manchester resident, Jacquelin Earls reported a complaint of pain after the crash, and was subsequently transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. She is currently listed in stable condition.
From the initial investigation, it appears as though Earls was pulling into her garage when she struck a refrigerator inside.
After doing so, she put her vehicle in reverse and accelerated backwards out of the garage. Once outside, she crossed the roadway and impacted a white, 2015, Honda Accord which was parked in the street. The force of the impact caused the Honda to strike a black, 2013, Volkswagen which was parked in the driveway of 4A Yorkshire Court. After colliding with the Volkswagen, the Honda struck the electrical service in front of 1B Yorkshire Court and came to rest alongside of an adjacent residence.
After striking the Honda, Earls put her vehicle into drive and accelerated forward, striking a black, 1957, Morris Minor, which was parked in the driveway of 2B Yorkshire Court. This force of that collision drove the Morris forward through the closed garage door of 2B Yorkshire Court.
Once inside, it impacted a Kia Forte which was parked in the garage. Earls then put the vehicle into reverse a second time and accelerated backwards striking a curb and the residence of 2A Yorkshire Court causing damage to the structure.
After that collision, Earls once again put the vehicle in drive and accelerated forward into a JCP&L electrical transformer box located in front of 2A Yorkshire Court. Lastly, Earls struck a community mailbox before her vehicle finally came to rest. It was determined during the initial investigation that Earls was not wearing her seatbelt at the time the crash occurred.
Assisting at the scene were firefighters from Manchester Volunteer Fire Department, EMTs from Quality Medical Transport, the Manchester Township Building Inspector, the Manchester Township OEM Coordinator and maintenance crews from the Leisure Village West Association. This crash is being investigated by Sergeant Antonio Ellis of the department’s Traffic Safety Unit.
