Years ago, Constance Race’s sister won a big prize playing Cash 5. Since then, Ms. Race has played the same numbers her sister used when she won.
“She’s passed away, but I’ve been playing her numbers,” the Bedford woman said.
On February 28, Ms. Race followed her sister’s example by winning the top prize in the Virginia Lottery’s Cash 5 with EZ Match game. She matched all five winning numbers to win the $120,000 jackpot.
“I was in disbelief,” she told Lottery officials.
The winning numbers were 14-15-16-17-21. She bought her winning ticket at the Food Lion at 1515 Longwood Avenue in Bedford.
Cash 5 with EZ Match features a rolling jackpot, starting at a minimum of $100,000. If nobody matches all five winning numbers, the jackpot increases for the next drawing.
