Woman, Young Child Carjacked in Newark

Newark, NJ – Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a carjacking incident on Monday.

The suspect, potentially a Hispanic male, seized a vehicle in the 800 block of N. 6th Street after noticing a woman and her child in the back seat.

After realizing the occupants, the suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled southbound on N. 6th Street.

The suspect was later observed exiting a blue sedan identified as a potential Acura TLX model in connection with the incident. Director Fragé encourages anyone who knows the suspect’s identity to contact the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). Anonymous tips are welcomed and could lead to a reward.
