YONKERS, NY – On Wednesday, at 2:16 AM, members of the Yonkers Police Department found an unconscious male with multiple stab wounds in a parking garage at 25 Prospect Street.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS. The Major Case Squad, Crime Scene Unit, and Digital Forensics Unit launched an investigation, discovering that the victim possessed cell phones that did not belong to him. Detectives collected surveillance camera footage and witness accounts, which identified Charles as the primary suspect. They also found additional footage of Charles discarding a knife in a nearby sewer. The knife was recovered for forensic evidence processing.

Charles was located later that day in Getty Square, apprehended without incident, and charged with Manslaughter 1st Degree. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending family notification. Yonkers Police First Deputy Chief Joseph Monaco praised the Detective Division for their swift action in solving the case.
