Yonkers Police Officers Intervene to Save Suicidal Man

YONKERS, NY – On Thursday, Yonkers Police Department officers responded to an emergency call at approximately 3:30 a.m.

The call was made in regard to a distressed man hanging over a guardrail at 521 Central Park Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers, including Police Officer Michael Heath, began negotiating with the man, urging him to move away from danger.

After approximately 16 minutes, the individual attempted to jump, but officers including Heath, Vazquez, Melendez, Brandon, Clayton, and McCown successfully intervened, pulling the man back to safety.

He was then taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
