WASHINGTON, DC — Crowds of teenagers gathered across the U Street Corridor over the weekend, but a targeted curfew zone in the area ended without any arrests or violations, according to officials.

The juvenile curfew zone was in effect from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Officers with the Third District reported full voluntary compliance as they engaged with young people in public areas throughout the zone.

After curfew hours extended citywide at 11 p.m., enforcement continued. On Friday night, eight curfew violations were recorded and one juvenile was arrested for public consumption of marijuana. Saturday night saw seven additional curfew violations, followed by two more on Sunday.

Citywide curfew enforcement resulted in a total of 17 stops between Friday and Sunday nights.

A citywide juvenile curfew remains in place for anyone age 17 or under through August 31. The nightly curfew runs from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.
