Teen arrested after attempted armed robbery on Alabama Avenue
WASHINGTON, DC — A confrontation between two teenagers on Sunday evening turned into an attempted armed robbery in Southeast Washington when one pulled a gun and demanded property before the intended victim escaped and alerted nearby officers.
The incident occurred around 5 p.m. in the 2100 block of Alabama Avenue, where a 14-year-old male approached another juvenile and pointed a firearm while issuing demands. The victim ran from the scene and flagged down special police officers who were in the area. Those officers, along with an MPD officer, located the suspect shortly afterward and took him into custody. A firearm was recovered during the arrest.
The teen, a Southeast resident, has been charged with Attempted Armed Robbery (Gun) and Carrying a Pistol Without a License. Police have not released additional details regarding the circumstances leading up to the confrontation.
The case remains under investigation.
