Man Attacks Female School Employee After Hours in Toms River

TOMS RIVER-On Thursday, February 13, 2020 at approximately 6:00 PM, (after school hours during a rental event), police units responded to Walnut Street Elementary School for reports of an assault on a school employee. The victim was working on the second floor of the building when they were confronted by an unknown male who asked to use the bathroom. When directed to the downstairs bathroom, the suspect grabbed the victim by the arm and pulled her into the hallway. The victim broke free and ran down the stairs, being followed by the suspect, who then exited the school through a side door.

Through security camera footage the officers identified the suspect as Daron Griffin, 21 of Toms River. On Friday, February 14, 2020 Mr. Griffin was apprehended and charged with Aggravated Assault and Criminal Trespass.

As of Tuesday Griffin was not booked at the Ocean County Jail.
