Juvenile Arrested in Wilmington for Handgun Charge

WILMINGTON, DE – Wilmington Police have arrested a 16-year-old and recovered a loaded handgun.
On May 2 at approximately 5:25 p.m., police officers on proactive patrol in the 900 block of North Spruce Street located a suspicious person who attempted to enter a residence upon seeing officers approach. Police made contact with the suspect, a 16-year-old male, and recovered a loaded .22-caliber handgun.

The juvenile male was taken into custody without incident and has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Juvenile
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Criminal Trespassing
  • Loitering

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $11,200 unsecured bail.
