15 Year Old Among Two Charged with Murder in Camden This Week

Camden, N.J. – Charges have been filed in two unrelated Camden homicides, according to Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Camden County Police Chief Joseph Wysocki.
Omar Brown, 33, of Camden, has been charged with one count of first-degree Murder in the Oct. 4 stabbing death of Tyree Gacutan. Police responded to the intersection of S. 30th St. and Stevens St. around 2:40 p.m. on Sunday for a report of a fight.

When they arrived, they found Gacutan suffering from multiple stab wounds in the chest. Detectives said he later died at a hospital.  Brown was transported to the Camden County Correctional Facility where he’s awaiting a detention hearing. Charges were also filed against the reported shooter in the Sept. 25 homicide of Justin Ingram, 20, of Camden. Police were called to the 3000 block of Hope St., for a report of a shooting around 3:30 p.m. Ingram was identified as the victim who later died at an area hospital.

A 15-year-old juvenile defendant has been charged with one count of first-degree Murder, one count of second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and one count of second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.


The 15-year-old is currently detained at a juvenile detention center. All persons charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Detectives are investigating two unrelated homicides in Camden on Sunday, according to Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Camden County Police Chief Joseph Wysocki.
Police responded to the 1800 block of Mulford St. around 10 a.m. for a ShotSpotter Activation of multiple gunshots fired. When they arrived, they found a woman shot inside a vehicle.
She was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead. The victim has been identified as Sheila Baskin, 74, of Camden. The shooting remains under investigation.
Hours later, police were called to the intersection of S. 30th St. and Stevens St. for a reported fight around 2:40 p.m. Officers responded and located a man suffering from multiple stab wounds to the chest.
He was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The stabbing victim was identified as Tyree Gacutan, 32, of Camden. The stabbing also remains under investigation.
