Pedestrian Struck and Killed on West Sample Road in Deerfield Beach

Deerfield Beach, FL –  On Oct. 12, 2020 at 4:40 am, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on the 600 block of West Sample Road police reported.  Pedro A. Escalante Hernandez, 50, was killed in the collision. Yvon Isnor, 67, of Pompano Beach was the driver who struck Hernandez.

Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives are investigating the death of a pedestrian who was struck and killed early Monday morning.  Shortly before 5 a.m., BSO deputies responded to a vehicle versus a pedestrian crash in the 600 block of W. Sample Road in Deerfield Beach. Preliminary investigation shows that Yvon Isnor was driving a 2004 Honda Element westbound on Sample Road when his vehicle struck Pedro Escalante-Hernandez who was walking northbound across the roadway.

Isnor did not immediately stop to render aid. At approximately 5:09 a.m., Isnor returned to the scene and is cooperating with investigators.  Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded and transported Escalante-Hernandez to Broward Health North where he was pronounced dead.  BSO traffic homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the cause of the crash.
