PORT ST. LUCIE, FL –  Port St. Lucie police officers were out in force watching out for drunk drivers during the Thanksgiving weekend and reported a woman driving south in the northbound lane of US1 with children in the car.  Luckily, police were able to pull the driver, pictured above, over and conduct a field sobriety test.

“The person pictured below was arrested last night by our PSLPD Traffic Enforcement Unit, during Operation, “Goodbye DUI”. The driver was seen by one of our Traffic Enforcement Officers, traveling South on US1, in the North bound lane. One unsuspecting driver had to swerve out of the way to avoid being hit. While still driving head-on at our Officer, the individual crossed over the median into the correct flow of traffic, where he was stopped by PSLPD,” the department said. “As if driving the wrong way on US1 wasn’t bad enough, Officers found two small children in the backseat asleep, one of which was not properly restrained. The driver was arrested for D.U.I. and child neglect. Thankfully, one of our Officers spotted this, or it may have been a lot worse, especially for two innocent children.”
