Los Angeles police searching for San Pedro Murder suspect

San Pedro, CA – The Los Angeles Police Department detectives from Harbor area are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect(s) responsible for the shooting death of 37-year-old Miguel Ruiz.

On November 23, 2020, at approximately 9:10 p.m., Miguel Ruiz was sitting in the courtyard area at an apartment complex in the 100 block of South Mesa Street in the city of San Pedro. Miguel was with a group of friends when an unknown male approached the group and fired a handgun at them. Mr. Ruiz was shot multiple times, while a female and additional male were also injured by gunfire. Mr. Ruiz succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. One of the additional victims was transported to a local area hospital and listed in stable condition. The third victim declined medical treatment.

It is believed that the suspect ran to an awaiting vehicle; however, the witnesses did not see the suspect get into a vehicle after the shooting.
