Man shot in car at New Haven gas station in critical condition

NEW HAVEN, CT – On Friday, December 4, around 3:30 AM, New Haven Police and Fire responded to multiple 911 calls of a person shot on Sargent Drive. In the front parking lot of a gas station at 200 Sargent Drive, arriving emergency responders found an unresponsive gunshot victim in the driver’s seat of a sport utility vehicle (SUV).

The 28-year-old New Haven man sustained a gunshot wound to the head. An ambulance transported the victim with life-threatening injuries to Yale New Haven Hospital. Following emergency surgery, the victim remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition. NHPD Major Crimes detectives and Bureau of Identification forensic detectives responded to Sargent Drive. During the early morning hours, officers held a crime scene of several blocks as detectives canvassed the area from Greenwich Avenue to Sargent Drive. Evidence of gunfire was found in the roadway. The streets have since been reopened.
