Ocala man charged for downloading child porn to phone

OCALA, FL – An Ocala man was arrested for downloading images of child pornography to his cell phone.

According to police, the Ocala Police Departments Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit received a Cyber Tip that Barahona was utilizing his cell phone to download six (6) digital images of child pornography involving a child approximately 6-8 years old.

Detectives with the Ocala Police Department were able to obtain a search warrant for Barahona’s residence in Ocala and it was executed on December 4th, 2020. During the search of Barahona’s residence multiple electronic devices were seized to include his cell phone. A forensic search of Barahona’s cell phone was conducted the following day and led to the discovery of 22 videos depicting child pornography involving children between the ages of 4 years old and 14, 4 digital images of child pornography, and over 400 images that were defined as child erotica.
Prior to the forensic search of Barahona’s cell phone and after the search warrant was executed, he immediately drove to his father’s house in Marion County who then drove him to the airport where he fled the country to Costa Rica.
A warrant has since been obtained for Barahona for 20 counts of possession of child pornography (10 or more images) with a total bond amount of $100,000.
It is believed that Barahona is still currently out of the country at this time. If anyone has any information on the whereabouts of Barahona that would aid in his apprehension please contact the Ocala Police Department @ 352-369-7000.
