50-year-old man stabbed in Tuscon

TUSCON, AZ – Police in Tuscon are investigating the stabbing murder of a 50-year-old man.

On December 12, 2020, shortly before 6:00 p.m., officers from Operations Division West were dispatched to the 2800 block of N. Stone Ave. for a report of a stabbing that occurred in front of an apartment complex. Upon arrival, officers located a 50-year-old male with obvious signs of trauma-related to a stabbing. Officers immediately began rendering aid using their Individual First Aid Kit (IFAK) until Tucson Fire arrived. The victim was transported to Banner University Medical Center with serious injuries. Sadly, shortly after his arrival to the hospital, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Officers were able to locate the apartment that the suspects fled into and ultimately, both males exited the apartment and surrendered to officers. The arrestees were identified as 52-year-old Luis Solorzano Villalta and 51-year-old Edgar Giovanny Villalta.


Detectives with the Homicide Unit responded to continue the investigation. Investigators learned that the suspects and victim were familiar with each other and that over the course of several weeks, they had more than one encounter. After the assault took place, both suspects discarded their knives, which detectives located during the investigation.

Luis Villalta was booked into the Pima County Jail for one count of First-Degree Murder and one count of Kidnapping. Additionally, Edgar Villalta was booked into the Pima County Jail for one count of First-Degree Murder, one count of Kidnapping, and one count of Threats and Intimidation.

The name of the victim is currently being withheld, pending next-of-kin notification.
