Vero Beach woman awakes to broken windows from overnight gunshots

VERO BEACH, FL –  A Vero Beach woman woke up to find her sliding glass doors and sun room window had been shot out by stray bullets.  The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office suspects the damage was the result of celebratory gun fire shot into the sky overnight.

“What goes up, must come down: same with bullets,” the department said. “Recently, a county resident heard three gunshots, her glass in her home breaking, then fell back to sleep.
This occurred in the 500 block of 26th Court.”

When she woke up, she found the rear window leading into a sunroom and sliding glass door leading into the house had been shattered by a bullet. The bullet finally stopped in the drywall of the resident’s bedroom.  Because of the extreme downward trajectory, the report stated, it was consistent with random rounds being fired into the air.  The resident requested Indian River County Sheriff’s Office not to damage the wall any further to recover the bullet.
