TACOMA, WA – One person is reported dead after a crash the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office reported on Saturday.

At 07:33 am, on Saturday January 9th, 2021, the Graham Fire Department called in a single car rollover crash that occurred in front of their station at the 12800 block of 224th St E. Fire fighters and deputies discovered the lone occupant unrestrained in the back of the vehicle and was declared deceased.

The vehicle had been traveling west on 224th Street E and went off the roadway hitting a small ditch which caused it to spin and go across the front of the fire station driveway. The vehicle landed on its side facing south on the roadway.

“Our traffic deputies responded to investigate and document the scene. Based on the initial investigation the cause is thought to be speed too fast for the icy conditions on the roadway; where the speed limit was 45 mph. It is believed the driver lost control of her vehicle and went into the ditch which caused it to roll,” the department said.

The 29 year old female was the registered owner and only lived a few blocks from the fire station. The traffic unit will continue their collision investigation in coordination with the medical examiner’s office.
