Chris Christie says he would vote to impeach President Trump

MORRISTOWN, NJ – Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie today said that if it was up to him, he would vote to impeach President Trump for inciting a riot at the U.S. Capitol building.  Christie, a paid contributor for ABC News told George Stephanopolous he would support the Democrat effort to impeach the President 10 days before Joe Biden’s inauguration.

“What we had was an incitement to riot at the United States Capitol, we had people killed and to me there’s not a whole lot of question here,” the former Governor of New Jersey said.  “If I think it’s an impeachable offense, that’s exactly what I would do, but I’m not in there. You want my opinion that’s my opinion.”

“If inciting insurrection [isn’t impeachable] then I don’t know what is,” Christie said.

Christie said the Democrats however have cheapened the presidential impeachment process by launching a frivolous impeachment against Trump previously.

“These are the types of thing this mechanism was put into place for,” Christie added. “A lot of Republicans have had enough and the President’s conduct since then has upset them…this is a national disgrace…it’s just wrong.”

Since Trump was elected Christie and the President have had an on-again, off-again relationship.  Initially, Christie was rumored to have been in the running for a cabinet position with Trump, but that offer never came and while Christie contracted COVID-19 with the President while helping the President prepare for a debate with Joe Biden, he has since been trying to put distance between himself and the President.
