Four-year-old shot in the head, mom murdered by boyfriend in Alabama

WEAVER, AL – A woman was shot and murdered in her home and her 4-year-old son was shot in the head by her boyfriend inside her Jacksonville home on Saturday.

Weaver Police reported that at 1:02 p.m. they received a call requesting a welfare check be cooducted
at 97 Juanita Lane in Jacksonville. The caller reported that Alex L. Haynes, 21, from Oxford had confessed 10 his mother that he had killed his girlfriend.

When the police officer arrived at the home, he discovered evidence of a forced entry through the rear door of the home.


The Weaver police officer, assisted by a deputy from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office made entry to the
home. and they found Kadynn M. Jones,24 deceased from multiple gunshot and stab wounds. Ms. Joncs’s four year old son was also found to have been shol in the head, but he was still alive.

“A short time later, Haynes was located by Officers with the Anniston Police Department. Haynes refused to comply with a traffic stop by the Oxford Police Department and led police on a pursuit through multiple towns and counties including Oxford and Talladega County.

The pursuit ended in a field in Talladega County where Haynes spared the public a lengthy trial and shot himself. He later die from his cowardly self-inflicted injury.

The child Haynes shot was listed in critical condition at UAB Hospital.
