They say good things happen to good people. Crystal Holbrook-Gazoni is proof. The Glen Allen woman is a pediatric home healthcare nurse who was recently featured ina Richmond Magazine articlefor her support of families in need and her passion for taking care of others. She’s also been namedOutstanding Nurse in Richmondby Thrive Skilled Pediatric Care.
She also happens to be quite the Lottery player.
Over the years, she’s become a familiar face at the Virginia Lottery’s Prize Zone West in Henrico, cashing in winning tickets and spreading good cheer with her infectious smile.
However, she’s never won a prize large enough to get one of those oversized Lottery checks.
“That had been my ultimate bucket-list item!” Ms. Holbrook-Gazoni said.
Now she can check it off her list.
On a recent trip to the Lottery office to redeem a winning ticket, Virginia Lottery employees calculated her winning tickets over the years and made a big souvenir check for her. Over a six-year period, from 2015 to the present day, she had 56 wins for a total of $74,354 in winnings.
“I keep the check in my house where I see it every day,” she told Lottery officials. “I’m going to win the big one someday!”
Authorized by Virginia voters in a successful 1987 referendum, the Virginia Lottery generates more than $1.6 million per day for Virginia’s K-12 public schools.
