DELTONA, FL – On Tuesday night in Deltona, a white Chevrolet pickup fleeing a minor traffic crash ended up running a red light and slamming into a vehicle in the intersection of Howland Boulevard and Newmark Drive.

The suspect vehicle rolled over multiple times, hit a power pole and came to rest. The suspect exited through the windshield and ran away, but left his wallet and ID behind.

With the assistance of Seminole County Sheriff’s Office Alert One helicopter, patrol and K-9 deputies located Jeffrey Hawley hiding under an above-ground pool deck about a block away. He was taken into custody on charges of leaving the scene of a crash with injuries, leaving the scene of a crash with property damage, driving while license suspended/revoked (habitual), reckless driving with damage to persons/property, and resisting a law enforcement officer without violence.

After being cleared at the hospital, Hawley was transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail, where his bond is $9,500 on the above charges. He is also being held with no bond for failure to appear on a prior charge of possession of heroin, and violation of pretrial release for neglect of a child and possession of drug paraphernalia.
