Atlantic City couple charged after firing handgun during dispute

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – At 1:40 am, patrol officers responded to the 700 block of Ohio Avenue for a ShotSpotter alert. Arriving officers were told that two suspects, a man and woman, were in the rear of a residence. Officers Juanita Harris and William Luengas-Gonzalez detained Samantha Johnson as she walked down an alleyway between two houses. Johnson was found to have a loaded handgun in her purse. Officers Robert Reynolds and Justice Martin arrested Sean Lowney in the rear of the residence.

During an investigation by the officers, they learned Lowney became involved in a dispute when he fired one shot through the window of a storm door. Lowney then passed the gun off to Johnson.

ARRESTED: Sean Lowney, 29, of Atlantic City.CHARGES: Unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and certain person not to possess a weapon.Lowney was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.


ARRESTED: Samantha Johnson, 20, of Stockbridge, GA.CHARGES: Unlawful possession of a weapon.

Johnson was released on a summons with a future court date.Charges are mere accusations, and the accused are considered innocent until proven guilty
