Joe Biden: Greatest threat facing American defense is climate change

It’s not China. It’s not Russia. It’s not cyber terrorism or the scientific manufacturing of biological mass casualty weapons. It’s not even old-fashing religious fundamentalist terrorism. No, the greatest threat to American national security is the air, clouds, and wind around you, as Democrats like to call it, climate change.

In 2009, former Vice President Al Gore warned the world that by 2013, all of the arctic ice could be melted. That call was echoed loudly by the Obama administration.

Joe Biden recalled a meeting he had with the Joint Chiefs of Staff where they declared climate change was our nation’s largest threat.

“When I went over to the tank in the Pentagon when I was first was elected vice president with President Obama, the military sat us down and let us know what the greatest threats facing America were, the greatest physical threats,” Biden said. “This is not a joke. You know what the Joint Chiefs told us the greatest physical threat facing America was? Global warming.  There will be significant population movements, fights over land, millions of people leaving places because they’re literally sinking below the sea in Indonesia, because of the fights over what is arable land anymore,” he added.”

Former President Donald Trump took a shot at Biden taking that message seriously.

“Biden just said that he was told by the Joint Chiefs of Staff that Climate Change is our greatest threat. If that is the case, and they actually said this, he ought to immediately fire the Joint Chiefs of Staff for being incompetent,” Trump today said mocking his successor.
