Lakewood man stopped with 7 unbuckled kids was DWI police say

LAKEHURST, NJ – A Lakewood man has been charged for DWI and having seven unrestrained children in his vehicle while driving through Lakehurst police say.

According to the Lakehurst Police Department, on June 5, 2021, at approximately 11:16 PM, Officer Gavin Cecchini was on patrol and conducted a motor vehicle stop of a vehicle that was driving erratically. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Paulino Rosendo-Camargo, was exhibiting signs of being under the influence of alcohol.

Also, inside the vehicle were approximately seven young children who were also not restrained by seatbelts. An on-scene investigation led to Rosendo-Camargo being placed under arrest for DWI. The children were taken into protective custody by officers until a responsible adult could take custody of them.


Rosendo-Camargo was processed and released with the following charges:

  • 2nd Degree Endangering the welfare of a child
  • Driving while intoxicatedReckless DrivingFailure to maintain lane of travel
  • Delaying traffic
  • Child restraint required

All criminal charges are merely accusations, and all subjects are innocent until proven guilty.
