Great Adventure log flume closed after accident sends two to hospital

by Charlie Dwyer

JACKSON, NJ – The Saw Mill log flume ride at Six Flags Great Adventure tipped and injured two riders park officials reported on Sunday.

“Our First Aid staff assisted several guests who were in a Log Flume boat that did not complete its cycle,” said Kristen Fitzgerald, spokesperson for Six Flags. “The safety of our guests and employees is our highest priority. The ride will remain closed for a full inspection.”

The log flume opened with the park in 1974. It is one of just four remaining original rides including the carousel, the giant wheel and the skyride.

It was once one of three log flumes at the park. From 1987 to 2007, there was a “Splash Water Falls” single loop, single drop flume ride. The Hydro Flume, built in 1975 closed in 2006 to make way for two child themed play areas.
