Ocean City hero gets ride with U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds

Phil Stilton

OCEAN CITY, MD – Last month, Jonathan Bauer leaped 25 feet down off a bridge in Ocean City, Maryland, to rescue an 18-month-old child who had fallen into the water in her car seat after an accident.

Wishing at first to remain anonymous, he was locally dubbed the “humble hero” before being publicly recognized and reunited with the family during a press conference. Today, he gets the ride of a lifetime with the Air Force Thunderbirds as he takes off from the Wallops Airfield for a 45-minute flight as part of the “Hometown Heroes” program.
