High speed cited for Columbus fatal crash

COLUMBUS, OH – On June 29, 2021, at 1:51 am, 23-year-old Courtney Antoine Nabors Jr. of Columbus was traveling southbound on Sawmill Rd. in a 2008 Acura TL. Nabors had just passed through the Bethel Rd. intersection and was traveling at a high rate of speed.

For reasons unknown, he lost control of the vehicle which then began sliding sideways and southeast across the northbound lanes of travel on Sawmill Rd. The Acura then struck a stone-constructed business sign installation which was located in front of 4632 Sawmill Rd. The Acura was heavily damaged and Nabors was transported to the Riverside Methodist Hospital by responding EMS in critical condition.

He later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 2:35 am.


CPD’s Accident Investigation Unit responded to the scene & initiated an investigation which is ongoing.

This is the city’s 45th reported fatal motor vehicle crash, having resulted in 48 fatalities, in 2021.
