NEW YORK, NY – A mom was walking with her family in the Richmond Hills section of New York City on Thursday near Myrtle and Hillside Avenues when a man, unknown to them, got out of his car and snatched her 5-year-old boy.

The man pulled up alongside the family according to the New York City Police Department, grabbed him as he walked ahead of her, and ran back to his car with the boy. The mother, who was walking with her kids to her husband’s job to bring him food leaped into action and reached inside the car as the driver tried to speed away, pulling the child out of the car through a window.

The attack comes as crime in New York City spirals out of control and criminals are getting more brazen by the day.
