PANAMA CITY, FL – A man was charged with multiple counts of aggravated child abuse and domestic battery after injuring a child and the child’s mother.
Officers with the Panama City Police Department were called to the area of the 700 block of E. 14th Street on Wednesday evening after it was reported that 29-year-old James E. White had struck a six-year-old in the face.
Upon arrival, White initially provided a false name to officers and was found to have an active warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody at that time.
Detectives with the Panama City Police Department and investigators with the Department of Children and Family Services had a follow-up interview with the victim and his mother. It was found that the juvenile had suffered on-going physical abuse and had multiple injuries all over his body in various stages of healing.
A search warrant was executed at the residence and the objects used to inflict the physical abuse were located.
White was charged with four counts of aggravated child abuse, three counts of child abuse and one count of false imprisonment. He was also charged with felony domestic battery and domestic battery by strangulation, with the mother as the victim, and was booked into the Bay County Jail.
