A Deutsche Welle news station journalist is being hunted in Afghanistan by the Taliban. Taliban forces have been going door to door searching for him, but today the agency said he is working in Germany. His family is not. According to DW.

In their search, the Taliban have reportedly shot and killed one member of the journalist’s family and injured another.

“The killing of a close relative of one of our editors by the Taliban yesterday is inconceivably tragic, and testifies to the acute danger in which all our employees and their families in Afghanistan find themselves,” DW Director General Peter Limbourg said in a statement. “It is evident that the Taliban are already carrying out organized searches for journalists, both in Kabul and in the provinces. We are running out of time!”

The company reported that Taliban militants have raided the home of three of their journalists.

DW has featured numerous stories on the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan, including pieces about women’s rights, Taliban financial stories and documenting atrocities committed by Taliban.
