Afghanistan war is over: U.S. equipped Taliban overpower opposition

The war in Afghanistan, for now, is over after the powerful Taliban army, equipped with billions of dollars in U.S. weaponry, vehicles, and heavy weapons has defeated opposition forces in Panjshir.

“The Taliban claimed victory over opposition forces in the Panjshir valley northeast of Kabul, declaring that they had completed their takeover of Afghanistan and promising to announce a new government soon,” Al Jazeera reported from Afghanistan.

Resistance leader Ahmad Massoud has reportedly fled the country after an attack this weekend killed some in his inner circle.

Taliban forces were seen raising their flag above the Panjshir governor’s office on Monday.
