A brawl broke out in the parking lot of a Missouri school after a tense school board meeting over face masks Tuesday night, KMBC reported.

Several people threw fists outside the Pleasant Hill High School, KMBC reported. Police on the scene handcuffed one man accused of inappropriately confronting a woman recording the events at the school auditorium, the Kansas City Star reported.

“There was an altercation between a couple of people out front of the school with a lady saying that she’d been harassed or assaulted by somebody else,” Maj. Kevin Tieman, a spokesman for Cass County Sheriff’s Office, told the Star. “She said they took her cell phone away from her.”

The school board voted unanimously to require face masks, KMBC reported. The decision comes after the school reported 28 positive cases, sending nearly 8% of the district’s population into quarantine.

Thousands of Missouri children contracted COVID-19 since the beginning of the school year, and one outbreak in a rural area forced a school to close for cleaning, Fox News reported.

The sheriff’s office cited three people involved in the altercation after the meeting, though no one was arrested, the Star reported. The incident remained under investigation as of Wednesday.
