Teen killed, another injured in West Milford crash

WEST MILFORD, NJ – Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and West Milford Police Chief James DeVore announce that at approximately 9:35 p.m. on Friday, September 3, 2021, police responded to 120 Lincoln Avenue in the Township of West Milford in response to a report of a motor vehicle accident.

Upon their arrival, officers discovered that a 1999 BMW 323, operated by Alexander P. Vanker, 19-years old, of West Milford, New Jersey, had left the roadway and traveled up an embankment and onto and across the front lawn of the residence located at 120 Lincoln Avenue before coming to rest in the driveway. At the time of the crash, the BMW was occupied by the driver and two other individuals.

One of the passengers, Daniel P. Kearney, 19-years old, of West Milford, New Jersey, was transported to Chilton Medical Center in Pompton Plains, New Jersey where he was pronounced deceased at 11:19 p.m. The second passenger, Kyle R. Guell, 19-years old, of West Milford, New Jersey was transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey where he is receiving treatment for serious injuries.


No charges have been filed at this time, but the investigation remains active and ongoing. More information will be released when it becomes available.
