OCOTILLO, Calif. – U.S. Border Patrol agents from El Centro Sector rescued six undocumented individuals early Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:10 a.m., when El Centro Station received information of a distress call received by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) regarding a group who illegally crossed into the United States who were without water and lost. CHP provided the contact information of someone within the group, the last known GPS coordinates and a brief description given by the lost individuals of their surrounding area.

Agents working in the field were notified of the distress call, responded to the area, and began the search using the information provided. An hour later, at approximately 5:10 a.m., agents located the group of six undocumented individuals, all male adult Mexican nationals, approximately 10 miles north of the U.S./Mexico border, near Plaster City.

Agents conducted welfare checks of all the individuals and safely escorted them back to the vehicle to be transported to the El Centro Sector Processing Center to be medically evaluated.

All the individuals will be processed accordingly.

Since October, El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents have successfully rescued 331 individuals lost or in distress.
