One dead in early morning shooting in Trenton

TRENTON, NJ – The Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department are investigating a shooting that occurred in Trenton early Friday morning that left one victim dead, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri reported.

At approximately 12:53 a.m., on September 17, 2021, Trenton police were dispatched to a home on Race Street on a report of an unresponsive male. Responding officers located a 37-year-old male victim with gunshot wounds, identified as Jeff Charles of Trenton, NJ. He was pronounced deceased.

The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Bill Jones at the Mercer County Homicide Task Force office, (609) 989-6406. Tips can also be emailed to mchtftips@mercercounty.org.
