MARION COUNTY, FL – On Thursday, September 16, 2021, Major Crimes Detective Nicholas Sutliff arrested 44-year-old Carl Wade Wilson (W/M, DOB: 12/13/1976) for 14 counts of Possession of Child Pornography.

On August 30, 2021, Detective Sutliff received a tip that Wilson had uploaded two files of child pornography to his Google account. Through further investigation, Detective Sutliff learned the account was associated with a residence located at 5832 NW 61st Court, Ocala, Florida. Detective Sutliff obtained a search warrant for the residence.

On September 16, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) SWAT Team served the search warrant and located Wilson in a bedroom along with a cellular phone that was identified as belonging to Wilson. Senior Digital Forensics Technician Jesse Newbanks conducted a forensic extraction of Wilson’s cell phone and discovered 14 files of child pornography.

Wilson was placed under arrest and transported to the MCSO Criminal Investigations Division to be interviewed by Detective Sutliff. During the interview, Wilson denied knowing the child pornography files were on his phone and claimed he must have been remotely hacked. After the interview, Wilson was booked into the Marion County Jail where he is being held on $28,000 bond.
