This dog helped police nab poachers ‘hunting’ with AR-style rifle

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD – On Friday, NRP officers in Montgomery County responded to Damascus for a report of three men trespassing with rifles on private property. When confronted by police, two of the men admitted to hunting for deer.

However, one of the suspects denied that he was hunting. During their investigation, police learned that the suspect hid his rifle in the woods. Sgt. Lillard and K-9 Rider were then called to respond to search the area for the firearm. After being deployed, Rider located a loaded rifle.

As a result, police charged all three suspects with hunting on private property without permission, hunting without a license, hunting deer during the closed firearms season, among other violations. Excellent work, Sgt. Lillard and K-9 Rider. We know Rider will enjoy his extra belly rubs and dog treats for doing such a great job.
