38 Year-old Man Arrested and Charged with 1st Degree Murder After Baltimore Shooting

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND – On September 4, 2021, at approximately 8:32 p.m., Southwest District patrol officers were dispatched to the 5000 block of Corley Road to investigate a reported shooting. When officers arrived at the location they observed 26 year-old Travis Ben Watkins suffering from an apparent gunshot wounds. Medics were summoned to the scene and transported the victim to Sinai Hospital for treatment. Medical personnel pronounced the victim dead shortly after arrival.

Homicide detectives assumed control over the investigation and learned the victim had been engaged in an on-going dispute with a female neighbor. The neighbors son came by to visit and the victim was shot after a dispute escalated into violence. Through the course of their investigation Homicide investigators were able to positively identify the suspect and obtain an arrest warrant.

On September 28,2021, 38 year-old Alejandro Gonzalez was extradited from Georgia and formally charged with the 1st Degree Murder of Travis Ben-Watkins.
